Acceptance of Terms

By choosing to engage Heritage Plastering Ltd for your project—whether through verbal agreement, written contract, or by permitting work to begin—you automatically accept our Terms & Conditions. We encourage you to review these terms prior to the start of any work to ensure a clear understanding of our policies and procedures.

 Deposit and Payment Terms

 

A deposit is required to secure your booking. Once paid, the deposit will be used to reserve labour and scheduling resources for your project.The deposit is non-refundable once work has been scheduled or materials have been ordered, except where cancellation is caused by circumstances within our control.All payments will be divided into two or three instalments: an initial payment, a mid-project payment, and a final payment upon completion. A payment schedule will be sent detailing the payment amount at each stage.If the Contractor has agreed to purchase materials on the Client’s behalf, the cost of materials must be paid prior to the project start date.Final payment is due upon completion, following inspection, and must be made before the team leaves the property.Failure to make payments on time will result in the suspension of services. Additionally, any late payments not adhering to the agreed schedule will incur a penalty of 25% on the outstanding amount and may be escalated to a debt recovery agency, with an additional 35% fee applied.Once payments have been made and work has commenced or materials have been procured, all payments are non-refundable, including deposits, interim, and final payments, unless otherwise agreed in writing.

 

2. Services

 

2.1 Access & Working HoursThe quotation is prepared on the assumption that free access to the site is continuously available to the Contractor throughout the week between Monday and Friday within the hours of 07:30 and 16:30.2.2

Client Responsibilities

Unless the quotation specifically states otherwise, the Client shall, at their own expense, be responsible for:

 

Ensuring site conditions and substrate are suitable for the works

 

Removal and/or protection of all valuable or fragile items

 

Removal of furniture, radiators, soft furnishings, and obstructionsProviding a clear working area (internal and external)

 

Providing a secure and dry storage areaSite security outside working hoursProviding water, 240v power, adequate lighting, and welfare facilities

 

Providing suitable means of waste disposal or recyclingProtection of completed works from other trades

 

Providing personnel authorised to sign completion certificates

 

Providing access equipment including scaffolding, towers, MEWPs where required

 

Failure to meet these responsibilities may result in additional charges and/or delays.

 

2.3 Exclusions & Additional Cost

 

sUnless otherwise stated, the quotation does not include:

 

Conditions of substrate or structure not previously identified

 

Site preparation or clearing works

 

Power other than 240v AC

 

Working outside standard hours

 

Repairs to existing substrate

Where such issues arise, additional costs will apply and the Client agrees to accept variations to the contract sum and timescale

 

.2.4 Abortive Visits & Delays

 

Where a survey or site visit has been booked and the site is not ready or accessible, a charge of £350 + VAT per person per day (or part thereof) will apply

 

.If the Contractor is unable to carry out works due to site conditions or access issues, a disruption/standing charge will apply at the same rate until works can resume.

 

The Contractor reserves the right to withdraw from site until conditions are suitable. Any additional visits will be chargeable

 

.Where delays occur through no fault of the Contractor, the Client shall reimburse all associated costs and overheads.

 

2.5 Completion

 

The Client shall ensure that a competent person is available to sign the Certificate of Completion and Satisfaction immediately upon completion.

 

Failure to do so may result in additional charges for further visits.

 

2.6 VariationsThe Contractor reserves the right to make minor changes or improvements where site conditions require it.

 

3. Workmanship & British Standards

 

All works will be carried out in accordance with recognised UK industry standards, including but not limited to:BS EN 13914-2 (Design, preparation and application of internal plastering)BS 5492:1990 (Code of practice for internal plastering)BS EN 13279 (Gypsum binders and plasters)BS 8000-0 (Workmanship on building sites)

 

4. Substrate & Existing Conditions

 

The Contractor will use reasonable endeavours to limit the risk of substrate damage during removal of render or plaster but accepts no liability for damage resulting from the “hacking off” process.

 

The Contractor accepts no liability for defects arising from issues within the substrate or structure unless expressly agreed in writing.

 

5. Cracking, Vibration & ImpactThe Client acknowledges that plastered areas may be affected by vibration or impact (e.g. doors, machinery).

The Contractor shall not be held liable for cracks occurring after completion due to such factors

 

.The Client is responsible for minimising such risks.6. Pre-Existing Materials & Risks

 

The Contractor is not responsible for failures caused by existing materials, including but not limited to:

 

Delamination (including Artex ceilings)

Distemper or chalk-based paintsFailure of existing plaster layers

 

Where risks are identified, recommendations (such as overboarding) may be provided, but no guarantee is given where existing materials are retained

 

.7. Inspection Standards & FinishPlastering is a hand-applied, traditional trade.

 

While a high-quality finish is provided, it is not a factory-perfect surface as plastering is hand finish. 

 

Inspection must be carried out

 

:From a minimum distance of 2 metresUnder normal ambient daylight

 

No liability is accepted for:

 

Minor imperfections Trowel marks Surface variations

 

Any issues visible only under glancing light (e.g. artificial lighting positioned close to walls)

 

IMPORTANT: Minor surface preparation, including light sanding, filling, and application of a mist coat prior to decorating, remains the responsibility of the decorator/client and does not constitute a defect in plastering.

 

8. Drying & Decorating Plaster must be allowed to dry naturally at ambient temperature.

 

The use of dehumidifiers, heaters, or forced drying methods will cause rapid drying and cracking and will void any guarantee .Decoration must not take place until the plaster is fully cured (uniform pale pink colour).

 

The Contractor accepts no liability for defects caused by premature decorating, including peeling, flaking, or bond failure.

 

9. Damage & Client Responsibility

 

Failure to clear or prepare the site increases the risk of damage.

 

The Client agrees to hold the Contractor harmless for any damage resulting from failure to comply with preparation requirements

 

.10. Weather & External FactorsThe Contractor accepts no liability for damage caused by weather, storms, or natural events

 

.11. Waste Disposal The Contractor operates as a lower-tier waste carrier.

 

All waste will be bagged and left in a convenient location for the Client to dispose of unless otherwise agreed

 

.12. Working Hours & Communication The Client acknowledges that:

 

Working hours may vary The Contractor may leave site as required.

 

Response times outside working hours may be delayed

 

Pricing is based on the scope of works and expertise, not time spent. No reductions apply for delays or early completion

 

.13. Completion Time

 

Completion dates are estimates only.

 

The Contractor will use reasonable endeavours to meet agreed timescales but accepts no liability for delays caused by external factors including weather, materials, or site conditions.14. AcceptanceBy accepting the quotation, the Client agrees to these Terms & Conditions in full.
